EPA Construction Site Stormwater Rules In Effect

EPA’s rule on controlling stormwater runoff on construction sites went into effect this month. The rule marks the first time the EPA has imposed national monitoring requirements and enforceable numeric limitations on stormwater discharge from jobsites.

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) is seeking proposals to provide technical assistance pertaining to soil science, hydrology, engineering, fluvial and hillslope geomorphology, wetland science, and botany. Those selected would be contracted through a 2 year master services agreement, from which task orders would be issued on an as needed basis.

Forest Glen developer Joe S. Rice III said he spends between $30,000 and $40,000 per development phase on silt fences, and another $30,000 to $60,000 on hay, grasses and other methods to curb soil erosion.
